Top 10 streets and reviews - January 2008

StreetAdvisor has grown a lot in January with the submission of many reviews of high quality streets. Everyone loves lists - top 10 this, worst 5 that and so on. Here are 10 of the best street reviews we've received this month. All the streets have rated in the 80s, which is very impressive, and each community member has shared their opinions with insight and humor.

1st

Gates in Vantage Point Road, Columbia, Maryland, United States (StreetScore 88.20) says "This was a great place to come home to - the lake was within walking distance as too the mall and the restaurants on the lake. The jogging trails was a major plus and the neighbourhood was so friendly. I would highly recommend this area it is awesome!"

sshilling says of Oak Hvn E, Magnolia, Montgomery, Texas, United States (StreetScore 87.22): "I love our street and our neighborhood. Everyone waves as you pass by and we all look out for each other. Neighbors don't mind doing a favor for you if you forgot to do something at your house while you are away on a trip such forgetting to close the garage door or getting the mail. I couldn't imagine a better neighborhood or street for my kids to live on!"

RobLee tells us that N Sagamore Road, Cleveland, Ohio, United States (StreetScore 85.41) is a "Very beautiful, quiet neighborhood with lots of young families and older couples. Lots of walkers go around the "loop" of the neighborhood streets. Near the Metroparks, the new Westgate Mall, Fairview Hospital. We now have a gorgeous new elementary school and Rec Center as well. City services are really good - no complaints. Best kept secret in Cleveland - visitors always comment how nice it is here."

betdun says of Alexander Court, Waukegan, Lake, Illinois, United States (StreetScore 85.20): "I have been very pleased with the quality of people in the neighborhood and I really believe this is one absolutely one of the best streets in Waukegan. With the value you get for your money here, it is so much higher than anywhere in Lake county. With the ongoing revitalization of the downtown area, I really think the surrounding area is going to benefit."

basher38 describes Sherbrooke Avenue, Elsternwick, Victoria, Australia (StreetScore 85.13) as "A great street less than 150m from Glenhuntly Road shops, restauraunts and train station, and far enough away from the Nepean highway to not have too much traffic noise. A mix of architectural styles from 1910 onwards it boasts some beautifully kept gardens and all the benefits of a quiet cul de sac and a great neighborhood."

mosamsky thinks that Bruton Drive, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States (StreetScore 84.99) has "Modest homes, friendly neighbors, very safe. Lots of interesting people, who are active and involved in the community."

joe says Greenwich Lane, Dallas, Texas, United States (StreetScore 83.46) is "mixed with young professional families with children, empty nesters, retirees, and a few singles. Homes are 1 to 1 1/2 stories and range in size from about 3,000 square feet to 5,000 with generally pleasing architecture from the 1950s through 70s and professionally maintained, manicured lawns. Nearby shopping is among the best in the nation. Restaurants are excellent, plentiful and varied."

comstockkc says of Poppy Hill Lane, Keller, Texas, United States (StreetScore 81.23) that it is the "Best neighbors I've ever had. Quiet and safe. I think there are 5 police officers that live within a block of me."

That's what I call safe!

atmd says of N Berteau Avenue, Elmhurst, DuPage, Illinois, United States (StreetScore 81.09) that "Within a week of moving in, I had met most of the neighbors on the block! Everyone was very warm and welcoming. It was exactly what we needed as new homeowners. Some neighbors have children, some are retired, and there are some that are young and childless. It is a great street for anyone."

coolrodskee tells us that Apple Orchard Road, Richmond, Virginia, United States (StreetScore 80.18) in "Woodfield subdivison is a quiet and comfortable neighborhood. Residents keep their yards pretty clean. Houses are maintained in very good condition. Many different families in various age groups live here. From young couples,families with kids, and the retired. I really enjoy coming home to this community."
