Hell is other people

At StreetAdvisor.com  we try to be honest and objective and tell it like it is, even when the reviews are negative. From recent reviews of bad streets that have been submitted, we're building a profile of what residents find most annoying about the behavior of their neighbors.

The same issues are mentioned over and over again from people all around the world, from Western Australia to Florida. Everyone wants to enjoy their street, where they can be free to be themselves while respecting the rights of their neighbors. Unfortunately, it seems we don't always get what we want. Here are the most common issues and what people think about them.

Pets

People who don't show consideration for the neighbors by controlling their pets is a big problem.

In Oriole Place, Ingleburn, New South Wales, Australia (StreetScore 34.65) resident Darm says "Dogs constantly bark ... cat owners allow cats out all night and day hence cat fights every night under your bedroom window ... They constantly dig in your yard ruining all your plants."

Crime

Crime is obviously the biggest problem and also the issue most feared, whether it is drugs, violence, car theft or home robbery.

In Lee Street, Cocoa, Florida, United States (StreetScore 22.31) Ibby writes "Not a good place to live, crime rate is very HIGH..."

In Robinson Avenue, San Diego, California, United States (StreetScore 37.37) Clarson says "Crime has shot up over the last two years as more homeless and drug dealers infest the neighborhood. They are coming from the downtown area since that area is being revitalized."

In Potter Street, Dandenong, Victoria, Australia (StreetScore 35.11) nlk tells us "I can only recommend renting here if your only other option is a cardboard box. I have never had to call the police so many times, my car insurance premium more than doubled..."

In Avenue Road, Frewville, South Australia, Australia (StreetScore 26.77) Avenue says "we have had our car stolen, broken into whilst we were sleeping, burgled, abused by neighbors, cars egged, listened to child abuse from neighbors..."

Nosy neighbors

In James Street, Perth Amboy, New Jersey, United States (StreetScore 49.02) stuckhere says "There are too many people on this street with nothing better to do then pay attention to what others are doing instead of minding their own business!"

Messy yards

In Ash Creek, Mesquite, Dallas, Texas, United States (StreetScore 40.37) kellydav says "I have lived here for 40 years and have seen the area go down hill... You never know what, who, where, how your neighbors are and that can be frightening. They don’t keep up their yards ... and they don’t make very good neighbors."

Loud music

In Mary Blair Way, Warnbro, Western Australia, Australia (StreetScore 42.95) wildflower7 says "it is not a good place to raise a family. There is a sense of a lack of safety and the neighbors are fairly rough and noisy. Many of them frequently play very loud music at all times, including into the small hours of the morning, with heavy bass and do not care about the impact that this has on people..."

Cars, motorcycles and dangerous driving

In Market Street, Condell Park, New South Wales, Australia (StreetScore 29.28) diatom says "Sometimes, there are cars or motorbikes, that use Market St as a drag strip, and speed along, noisily, and dangerously, if someone was to walk across the street..."
